Ten Harriers took part in the latest instalment of the club’s exciting 2013 Grand Prix, the Bridges of the Tyne 5-Mile Road Race, organised by Tyne Bridge Harriers.
Held in hot conditions last Tuesday, this flat course on the Quayside produced some good times for all those taking part.
Jim Lillico was first Harrier past the post, followed by Dave Hindmarsh and Charlie Gillon. Lisa Williams was first Alnwick female, followed by Ruth Doctor.
Results: 63-Jim Lillico 32.53; 118-Dave Hindmarsh 35.01; 152-Charlie Gillon 36.16; 159-Phil Baston 36.22; 190-John Ross 37.43; 199-Kim Bronze 38.16; 210-Dave Coates 38.39; 213-Lisa Williams 38.45; 222-Phil Lee 39.29; 271-Ruth Doctor 42.06.
There was yet more success for the in-form Bruce Crombie at the Beacon Hill Fell Race, Rothbury last Thursday.
Bruce finished third in the six-mile race, with just over 1,500 feet of ascent to win the male 40 category once again.
Dave Lowe took part, finishing 16th, running for host club Northumberland Fell Runners.
Results: 3-Bruce Crombie 52.27; 16-Dave Lowe 1.00.01 (NFR); 44-Kim Bronze 1.24.42.
On Saturday, three Harriers took part in a scorching Newcastle Parkrun, the highlight being Phil Lee taking part in his 50th Parkrun.
Results: 51-Jock Bolam 20.59; 111-Tracey Sample 22.54; 169-Phil Lee 24.43.
Finally, on Sunday, away from the Northumberland Coastal Run Junior Harrier Daniel Leng took part in the BUPA Great Edinburgh 5k.
Daniel was a superb fourth overall, clocking 18.04, just two seconds outside his 5k pb.
