Jake takes medals as Dolphins impress

AFTER successfully achieving North East Regional Qualifying times, Eve Buddle, Jake Cross, Lucy Hodgson and Fiona Robson travelled down to Sunderland this month to compete in the Bagcat Junior Championships.

It was the first time that the four had competed in the impressive 50m pool, which was divided into two 25m pools, allowing the senior and junior events to run simultaneously.

The Dolphins were competing against the major clubs from the North of England such as City of Newcastle, City of Leeds, Doncaster, York and Sheffield, yet that did not deter them – resulting in two medals for Jake Cross, who swam a storming 200m freestyle to secure gold followed by a bronze in the 400m freestyle.

Results: Lucy Hodgson (10) 10th, 100m breaststroke (pb 1.36); seventh, 200m breaststroke (pb 3.21).

Jake Cross (10) fifth, 100m freestyle (pb 1.13); gold, 200m freestyle (pb 2.34); bronze, 400m freestyle (pb 5.28).

Eve Buddle (10) seventh, 100m butterfly (pb 1.27); 12th, 200m IM (pb 3.02).

Fiona Robson (10) sixth, 200m butterfly (3.27).
