Wooler Running Club
Henrietta Bolton Carter, Rob Murray-John and Karl Wait took part in the gruelling Scafell Pike Trail Marathon on Saturday, May 18, which in fact was 28 miles long, making it an Ultra event.
The weather was typical for the location – wet, snowy, cold and misty.
Henrietta finished in a fantastic time of 6:53:35, finishing seventh lady overall and first in her category.
What made her time even more impressive was that she had had a fairly major fall near Scafell summit, sustaining a face injury which required hospital treatment (after she completed the race, of course).
Next in from Wooler was Rob Murray-John, who finished in 6:55:53, followed by Karl Wait who finished in 7:09:44.
The club congratulated all three for completing such a tough race in unpleasant conditions.
On Saturday, May 25, Pam Brown took part in the Camel Teign Ivor’s Dream 100-mile race starting at Wadebridge on the North Cornwall coast and finishing at Teignmouth on the South Devon coast.
Pam is a very experienced 100-mile walker and once again put in an amazing personal-best performance, finishing second female in a time of 28hr 57mins – taking 30 minutes off her previous best time.
Club members were praised for their ‘phenomenal feats of endurance’.
