There were some superb performances by home Harriers on the day, including race victories in the U11 race, for the second year running, for Warren Davison and for Joseph Mallen in the Boys’ U17 race.

The Boys’ U15s were second of the 14 teams, with Adam Shafiq running a blinder to finish fourth.

The Girls’ U15s were second of the 11 teams, with Rosie Murton finishing fourth.

The Girls’ U13s had a fantastic turn-out of 11 runners. All this shows what a superb job the junior coaches are doing for the club.

The men’s team was a fantastic sixth of the 34 teams on the day, finishing second in Division Two behind a very strong Tyne Bridge Harriers team.

The highlight of the men’s race was David Lowe, running into the medium pack with a 28th-place finish.

The other counters were Bruce Crombie from the medium pack, Dave Kirkland from the fast pack and slow pack runners Graham Syers, Mike Telfer and Peter Grey.

Despite the women’s team being short of a number of their top performers, they still performed very well to finish fourth of 18 teams in Division Two.

The highlight was Sarah Fairbairn in her first Harrier League race, overtaking half-a-dozen runners in the last 20 metres to finish 10th overall.

The other Alnwick counters were Lesley Miller and Lisa Williams.
