CLUB members travelled to Haddington to enter the East Lothian Half-Marathon on Saturday.
The race started in the town centre and quickly headed into a scenic route of country roads and tree-lined avenues on a circular circuit before ending at the town centre sports field.
Runners faced continuous, undulating roads and long stretches of hills, some almost a mile long, before respite was offered in a downhill section.
On a hot and sunny afternoon, the weather was affecting the runners’ pace and four water stations were allocated for re-hydrating the 250 entrants.
First to finish for Alnwick was Mark Miller in 17th place overall and a personal best time of 1hr 27min 6sec followed by Dave Hindmarsh carrying out a pre-marathon run in a time of 1:28:00, third was Graham Syers in 1:30:42 and fourth for the club was Andy Squires in 1:33:26.
Pauline Aitchison of Wooler Running Club travelled with Alnwick, also pre-marathon training, and ran four miles before the race started and a further three afterwards and still managed a great half-marathon time of 1:40:48.
Results: (17) Mark Miller 1:27:06, (22) Dave Hindmarsh 1:28:00, (32) Graham Syers 1:30:42, (45) Andy Squires 1:33:26, (55) Jim Lillico 1:35:14, (56) Richard Agan 1:35:14, (98) John Ross 1:43:47, Harry Porteous 1:46:12, (120) Charlie Gillon 1:47:51.
