Harriers host league meeting

A COMPETITIVE race event in Alnwick will draw hundreds of athletes from running clubs from across the region tomorrow.

Alnwick Harriers are hosting fixture five of the North Eastern Harrier League 2011/12 at The Pastures.

It follows preparation and consultation with Northumberland Estates. The day will see both junior and senior races of various age categories.

The main course, incorporating grassland over undulating terrain, will comprise a 1.9-mile lap run three times by senior men, twice by senior females and once by juniors. There will also be a shorter route for U11s designed specially to encourage younger athletes.

The meet is sponsored by Start Fitness and the first junior race will be at 12.15pm, senior males will start at 1.15pm, followed by senior females at around 2.30pm.

Toilets, limited changing and registration are at the Duchess’s Community High School’s Bailliffgate site.

Parking is £3.50 in the main Alnwick Garden car park or £2 in the Garden overflow car park. From the car parks, walk via Denwick Road to the entry for the Pasture. Follow direction signs and marshal’s instructions.
