ALNWICK Harriers ended its indoor season on a high at the final athletics meeting of Gateshead’s Indoor Series.

Several strong performances throughout the five competitions saw the regular competitors from Alnwick scoop four trophies.

In the ‘Grand Prix’ competition U13 boys Alex Tait, Owen Davidson and Edward Bell finished first, third and eighth respectively in their category; Peter Skirrow won his U15 series and in a closely fought U15 girl’s competition, Sophie Bronze finished second.

Highlights from the series include Alex’s Grade Three Standards of 1m 35cm in the high jump and 8.75 seconds in the 60m, assisting him to his final 33 point lead.

Competing in their first season as U15s, 12-year-olds Peter and Sophie repeatedly earned points in both the 60m hurdles and the high jump; confidently making the transition to their new hurdle height and regularly jumping 1m 40cm.

Alnwick Harriers begins its outdoor season on April 17, at the Anne-Marie Readshaw Track and Field Meeting, Shildon.
