PLAYERS, ground staff and friends met at Alnwick Cricket Club last Saturday for the club CricketForce Day.

NatWest CricketForce is an England and Wales Cricket Board volunteering initiative aimed at rejuvenating the nation’s cricketing facilities. It acted as a great opportunity to spruce up the clubhouse and grounds at Alnwick ready to begin the 2011 season.

The nets went up to start outdoor training and the wicket is looking very good thanks to John Frater, Gavin Turnbull and others.

New players from all age groups are always welcome. Juniors (U15, U13, U11 and U9s) should come along to the club at Weavers Way, Alnwick, each Thursday at 6.30pm, starting from tonight. Junior coordinator is Steve Kelly on 07767 346126.

Seniors meet on Tuesday evenings, together with U15, U17 and U19s. Contact Steve O’Hara at the club on 01665 602719.
