Golfers gathered in Longhorsley last Thursday to take part in the first Charity Golf Challenge hosted by Age UK Northumberland.
All the funds raised from the event, held at the Macdonald Linden Golf and Country Club, are being used to support the charity’s wide range of services enhancing life for vulnerable, isolated and often lonely older people throughout the county.
Entrants enjoyed a day of great golf, fine food and fun competitions, including prizes for the longest drive and nearest the pin.
Catrina Flynn, Age UK’s fund-raising manager in Northumberland, said: “We were really excited to hold our first ever Charity Golf Challenge. It’s a great fun way for local golfers to support what we’re doing.
“Everyone who took part had a really fun day in beautiful surroundings, and have also shown that they care about the older people of Northumberland.
“Events like our Golf Challenge are an enjoyable way to support what we are doing for older people.”
