Alnwick

Tom Lang finally topped off his season of 15 top ten finishes with a victory in Woof Cuts Dog Bowl October Medal.

His amazing nett 65, which contained three birdies at the 5th, 7th and 13th holes, may have been even better but for a nervous six on the first and a triple bogie eight on the difficult 12th .

Close on Tom’s heels in second place, only one shot behind, was Ian Bell whose 66 lifted him into third place in the Pacitti Cup and Marc Friar’s nett 67 in third place lifted him into the head of the table in the same competition.Barry Farrar, fourth on the day on countback was runner-up in the Pacitti.

In the Sponsors Cup Martin Carss held on to his lead score of 213, despite a late charge by Marc Friar in second on 216 and Wayne Belisle only one behind in third.

Back to Sunday’s event and there were only two two’s sharing a reasonable pot with Peter Hately and Lawrie Stewart both leaving it late until the 17th hole to stake their claim to the spoils.

A very quick mention for John Eels who should be presented with the stayer of the day if not the season award as he battled on valiantly after a rather unusual and unprecedented 17 on the 13th to finish with a nett 84, oh what might have been John ?

A final reminder that tickets are still available for Duy Lams Famous Oriental Banquet on Saturday, October 22 with a quiz to follow compiled by the Vice Captain Ian Hogg.
