A look at the results from the local courses
Who needs 18 holes to score 36points? Certainly neither Cyril Jobson or indeed Steve Miller, who both managed the feat by playing a weather shortened course of only 14 holes in round two of the winter league last week.
Cyril was awarded first place on countback and in the process had his winter league handicap chopped to a very respectable eight, others please check your own handicaps before playing this weekend just in case you have suffered a similar fate.
Back to the placings, however, and in third and fourth places were Kevin Murphy and Russell Cooke both with 33pts and again separated by countback.
Even with two of the par threes not in play there were still five members of the two’s club, namely, Micky Bell, Alan Johnson, Guy Ridley, Cyril Jobson and Kevin Murphy.
Only two weeks in Cyril now leads the order of merit with 26pts ahead of Michael Friar on 17 and Steve Miller on 15.
A new addition this winter are The Dirty Bottles Eclectics in which there are both gross and net competitions with three handicap categories in each. Updates will be given periodically in this column, watch this space.
