Wooler 3 Blyth Isabella 1
Northern Alliance, Division Two
This was a comfortable victory for Wooler over promotion rivals Blyth.
Right from the start, Wooler dominated and it was only a matter of time before they opened the scoring. Strikers Scott and Forrest combined well and caused the visiting defence all sorts of problems.
The breakthrough came after 20 minutes when Forrest turned smartly in the box and rifled home a left-foot shot.
Although Wooler were having the best of the play, they found it difficult to convert pressure into goals, but Jeffrey and Bertram were pressing forward from midfield to support the strikers.
The second half continued in a similar vein and the second goal came after 50 minutes when a Punton corner was converted from close range by the diving Scott.
Wooler were then in total control and the third goal came shortly afterwards when Scott was on hand again to score with a deft header.
Wooler manager Barry Guthrie brought a couple of reserve team players, Ross Tait and Ross Allan on for their first team debuts.
With five minutes to go, the visitors scored a consolation goal from a corner.
