Vipers get better of Pumas

Alnwick Town Vipers U12 3 Ponteland Pumas U12 1

U12s Bundesliga Two

Alnwick hosted Ponteland on a very windy Sunday morning.

They had the wind in their favour in the first half so got off to a good start, with Ponteland unable to get out of their half.

Vipers let the shots fly, hitting the bar and post in quick section. They soon went 1-0 up, with James Bowmen’s shot beating the Pumas keeper.

More of the same from the Vipers kept the Pumas in their own half and only the wind and good saves from the Ponteland keeper kept the score at 1-0.

Against the run of play, Ponteland broke away and got the ball forward and made it 1-1 with a low shot in the corner.

Ponteland had the advantage of the wind in the second half and started well, trying to let the shots fly to get back in the game.

Under pressure, Alnwick broke away on the left, with Lucas Thornbury running with the ball and beating two Ponteland players and firing the ball across the goal for Danny Bennet to slot it home for 2-1 Alnwick.

Alnwick broke away again late in the second half to make it 3 -1.

Alnwick’s Tyler Mallaburn slotted the goal home this time.

They held out for the rest of the game to take all three points on a very windy day against a good Ponteland team.
