Alnwick Town WILL play Northern League Division Two football next season after Ryhope CW’s appeal to avoid relegation was refused by the FA on Monday.

It is a relief for the St James’ Park side whose position was in doubt if the Tyne and Wear-based outfit had been reinstated to the Northern League.

The FA is yet to decide which league Ryhope, relegated for failing to meet ground criteria, will play in for the 2013-14 season.

Alnwick start their Division Two campaign on August 10 at home to West Allotment Celtic.

Their first pre-season friendly is Eyemouth away on July 20.
