Alnwick Town have drawn Whitley Bay away in the Quarter Final of the Techflow Group Senior Cup.

The St James’ Park side lost 7-3 to the Seahorses at the same stage of the competition last season.

Town defeated Heaton Stannington to reach the last eight this time round, while Bay, former FA Vase holders, received a bye.

It is something of a plum tie for Town, of Northern League, Division Two, but they know it will be a tough test against Whitley Bay, who play in the division above.

The draw comes on the same day that Town beat South Shields 2-1 in the league, while the Seahorses defeated Bedlington Terriers 4-1 in the first round of the FA Vase.

The other quarter-final matches are Morpeth Town v West Allotment Celtic, Newcastle United U21s v Team Northumbria and Blyth Spartans v Ashington. The dates for the last-eight matches are still to be confirmed.
