A physical training instructor from RAF Boulmer has been signed to play for Newcastle United Women’s Football Club.
Corporal Siobhan Davies began her football career at the age of seven in her native Merseyside.
She studied for a sports degree at Northumbria University and played for the university team. She was later selected for the English Universities team and in her last year she signed for Whitley Bay, playing for them for four seasons.
Siobhan joined the RAF in 2008 and has played for the RAF and the Combined Services team. When she was posted to Boulmer, the RAF football manager contacted Newcastle United to let them know they had a talented player in their midst.
Unfortunately she was unable to attend the selection trials at Newcastle due to her commitments on Operation OLYMPIC this summer but, on her return, she played in a pre-season friendly against Birtley and impressed the selectors so much that they signed her immediately.
