ALNWICK Town Reserves’ season of ups and downs finished in the same vein with a win in their final game of the season on Monday night preceded by a defeat on Saturday.
The Northern Alliance Division One fixtures had been completed last weekend but there remained one match to be played in the Premier Division on Friday.
League runners-up Hebburn Reyrolle won by the odd goal in five at home against Seaton Delaval, who finished in the middle of the bunch.
On Saturday, in Division Two, Alnwick’s reserves slumped to a 5-2 defeat at second-bottom Swalwell.
New Fordley also hit five as they won 5-1 at home against third-placed Northbank.
Elsewhere Whickham Lang Jacks narrowly won 3-2 against Willington Quay Saints.
The final games of the Northern Alliance took place on Monday as the Division Two fixtures were wrapped up.
Alnwick ended on a high at home as they won 3-1 against Alston to finish 12th in the league.
In the evening’s other games, league champions Hexham finished second-best at home, losing 2-1 to Northbank.
Seaton Burn also lost at home, 3-1 to Whickham Lang Jacks.
