Tustain Motors Glendale League round-up
It was the reptiles that triumphed in the battle of the predators at the top of the U10 Division of the Glendale League on Saturday as the Alnwick Pythons snared the doughty Lowick Ospreys in a 6-1 victory.
Harry Pagan scored for the plucky Ospreys.
The Pythons have other dangerous birds of prey still to beat as Lowick Kestrels matched Alnwick’s three wins from three games to beat Berwick Juniors 5-2.
Vinnie Clazie, substitute Lee Matthews and a glorious hat-trick from the lethal Lambert Larsson provided a flood of goals that Berwick couldn’t counter despite Noah Watson scoring a well-taken double.
Circling with the Kestrels are Felton Falcons who have started the season with a similarly perfect record.
On Saturday, they pounced on the Lowick Harriers in a 5-0 win. Ben Riley scored four for the Falcons with Emrie Yasar scoring the other.
The final team to make up the gang of four at the top of the U10 table are Rothbury Rangers.
On Saturday, they beat Seahouses 5-0 with Sam Burdis and Adam Barnes scoring the goals.
Five-nil was the score in favour of Wooler as they beat the Alnwick Adders and five goals were scored in Shilbottle’s win over Rothbury Rangers.
One of these was scored by Elliot Fox for Rothbury, but it was Shilbottle who ran out the eventual winners, 4-1.
Yet the game of the day in this division was between Felton Foxes and Longhorsley.
Bob Fortescue, William Mewitt and Sonny Overton scored four goals for the Foxes, but it wasn’t enough to secure a win as Longhorsley pipped the Foxes in a glorious 5-4 victory.
There is only one team in the U12 League still with an unblemished record and they are Wooler.
Goals from Liam Nesbit, Nathan Crombie and Kyle Hossack were just enough to squeeze through 4-3 against Alnwick Town.
Berwick Juniors beat Longhorsley 2-1, Jamie Horner scoring for Longhorsley, and Tweedmouth and Eyemouth ended all square in a 0-0 stalemate.
David O’Dowd, Cameron Austin-Walker and Robbie Bulloch scored the goals to secure a 3-1 victory for Rothbury over Seahouses (full report on Gazette website).
Seahouses also suffered a 3-1 reverse in the U14 Division. Charlie Caden’s goal for the Seasiders wasn’t enough to stop Lowick Falcons flying to victory.
Niall Jones, Noah Herriot and Buster Briggs scored the goals for Lowick.
Berwick Juniors moved to the top of the U14 League by beating Rothbury 4-0.
A Resse Bloomfield double was added to by Ryan Ruddick and Dylan Barnett.
