Rangers march into final

LONGHOUGHTON Rangers have booked their place in the Sanderson Cup final.

Rangers grabbed their final berth after a 3-1 semi-final victory over Rothbury on Saturday.

They will face Bedlington Terriers Reserves in the final, after the Bedlington side beat Alnwick Town Reserves 1-0 in the competition’s other last-four clash.

There was also cup joy for Wooler on Saturday as they edged a five-goal thriller in the quarter-final of the Bilclough Cup, overcoming Tweedmouth Rangers 3-2 to bag a place in the competition’s semi-final.

In Division Two, Embleton WR are into second spot after two wins in a matter of days. Their first was a 4-1 away triumph over Shilbottle CW Reserves on Wednesday, April 20 before a comprehensive 7-0 victory at home to Hedgeley Rovers on Saturday.

Saturday’s only other fixture saw Shilbottle CW Reserves beat Longhoughton Rangers Reserves 2-1 in Division Two.

In midweek, Shilbottle CW were knocked out of the Anderson Cup, losing their April 20 quarter-final against Lynemouth Institute 4-2, while in Division Two, Hedgeley Rovers 1-12 to Tweedmouth Rangers.
