Rangers lose seven-goal thriller

Longhoughton Rangers Ladies 2 Walbottle 5

Longhoughton Ladies slipped to a 5-2 defeat against Walbottle in the Northumberland County Women’s Football League on Sunday.

Rangers came out all guns blazing and attacked at every possible opportunity.

However Walbottle took the lead with an unstoppable shot and followed this up with a second soon after.

Rangers refused to give up and played a quick ball down the wing and some nifty footwork and passing by the forwards saw Becky Baxter score her first of the season to give her side a lifeline.

Rangers continued attacking and had many shots on target but were unable to find the back of the net.

Walbottle sneaked a cheeky goal just before half-time to make it 3-1 and restore their two-goal advantage.

Rangers started the second half on the attack and it paid off when Courtney Purvis netted her first of the season with a beautiful strike.

Rangers dug deep and were hungry for more.

They completely dominated the game and passed the ball beautifully.

But a miscommunication at the back lead to Rangers scoring an own-goal to go 4-2 down.

Walbottle added a fifth soon after to complete the scoring and take the points in this league clash.
