Morpeth Sunday League round-up

AMBLE Pier 81 have experienced an amazing week.

They followed up their success in the Lewin Cup last Sunday with a 4-1 win over Red Row Brick Club on Thursday night, a result which clinched their first league title

Darren Riddell, Ali Turvey and Sean Taylor (Two) all netted in midweek.

They followed those two triumphs with another win at the expense of Red Row Brick Club in the semi-final of the George Cave Memorial Trophy.

Goals came from Lee Harker, Ross Gair and Josh Hay, while Adams Shanks grabbed a brace for the Brick.

Pier 81 now face Bedlington Barrington Arms in the final of the competition on May 20, at Woodhorn Lane, Ashington.

In Division Two, Ashington RAOB won the only game of the day with a single strike from Sean Gibson, to follow up on their midweek 7-1 win at Morpeth Riverside Lodge.

These results see the Buffs move second in the table and close in on top spot.
