Tustain Motors Glendale League round-up
A brilliant goal from an overhead kick put Berwick Juniors top of the Tustain Motors U10 Division of the Glendale League on Saturday.
Berwick beat Rothbury Rovers 2-1 and the victory leaves Berwick Juniors as one of only two teams in the entire league with a 100 per cent record.
The other team sharing this distinction are fellow U10 team Alnwick Vipers. The Vipers continued their perfect run of results with a 5-0 victory over Rothbury Rangers.
Elsewhere in the U10 section Longhorsley got back to winning ways with a 6-2 victory over Felton. Olly Gibson scored for Felton and, again, Alan Roskilly was among the goals for Longhorsley. The ‘Goal King’ scored an impressive four in a win that offered his team great consolation after being edged out in an 11-goal thriller the week before.
Lowick Panthers, who won 6-5 the previous week, enjoyed another victory with a 2-0 win over Seahouses. The Lowick scorers were Tyler Winston and Andrew Mace.
Unfortunately, Lowick Lions had less joy in their game against Wooler. Despite goals from Jackson Robertson and Kyle Newton the Lions narrowly lost 2-3 to Wooler, with goals from Cole Harris, Thomas Grey and Liam Nesbit.
A team that really enjoyed Saturday were Shilbottle U10s, who recorded their first victory of the season in a 6-1 win over Lowick Tigers with new signing Kalvin Inglis hitting four. Yet, even in defeat, Lowick’s Molly Ryan had the personal triumph of scoring her first league goal of the season.
Another team that chalked up victory in the U10s were Alnwick Pythons, with a 7-2 win over Lowick Wildcats.
While Alnwick Pythons and Berwick Juniors kept up their perfect record, another unbeaten record did fall.
Alnmouth U14s went down to a 1-2 defeat to Lowick Falcons, Buster Briggs and Niall Jones scored for the Falcons with Edris Ramenzanpour getting one back for Alnmouth.
Last Saturday was a good day for Lowick U14s as Rangers also won, beating Seahouses 3-1. The Rangers goal-scorers were Ryan Rutter and Fraser Gorvelt (two), with Adam Davidson securing the lone Seahouses goal.
Elsewhere three goals were also scored by Wooler in a narrow 3-2 victory over Berwick. Wooler’s goals were scored by Gregor Sharp, Andrew Carr and Keiran Jones while Ryan Ruddick replied with a brace.
Alnmouth’s defeat left U12 side Tweedmouth Amateurs as one of only three unbeaten sides in the entire league.
The Amateurs recorded a 2-1 victory over Lowick Leopards with Rhys Dixon and Kyle Watson scoring the goals, and 2-1 was a popular scoreline.
Longhorsley defeated Lowick Eagles by this score as did Rothbury in their contest with Lowick Pumas.
Longhorsley’s victory was secured by the Davidsons, both Tom and Matthew scored with Matthew also winning his team’s man-of-the-match.
Rothbury’s 2-1 triumph was achieved through an effort from Harry Monks and a captain’s goal from Louis Stripp.
Eyemouth and Wooler drew 1-1 with Kai Spouse scoring for Eyemouth and Ross Edwards replying with a goal for Wooler.
