Northern Football Alliance round-up (Saturday, March 9)

PREMIER DIVISION

Hit-man Josh Hay grabbed five in Amble United’s 10-goal demolition job on basement side Rutherford on Saturday, writes Jon Tait.

Matty Graham, Brent Aisbitt, Derek Atwell, Rikki Hume and an own-goal made up the Seasider’s tally as they bounced back from two recent defeats.

Danny Hill grabbed a consolation, while second-placed Carlisle City were left kicking themselves as Seaton Delaval pulled off a smash and grab raid at the Sheepmount.

Kevin Westphal and Cameron Patrick netted late on for Delaval.

DIVISION ONE

A Cameron Wilson hat-trick helped moved Northbank into third spot. Lee MacDermott got the other, while Sean Smith notched for Cullercoats.

Goals from Red House Farm’s Dale Pearson, Marty Soulsby and Lee Brady eased them past Bedlington Terriers Reserves.

DIVISION TWO

High Howdon’s Kyle Austin grabbed the winner in their Division Two clash with Alnwick Town Reserves.

NORTHUMBERLAND FA SENIOR BENEVOLENT BOWL

Ponteland United pulled off a surprise at Percy Main to book a spot in the final of the Bowl.

The Villagers went ahead as Scott Pocklington fired home in the opening minute but United hit back with goals from Billy Holden and a Dan Wright double.

Pocklington blasted in a second from distance late on but the black-and-whites held out to celebrate.

PIN POINT RECRUITMENT BILL GARDNER TROPHY

Walker Central were given a real scare by second division New Fordley in the Bill Gardner Trophy.

Central also lead in the opening minute as Nkuriza Suaibu fired home but a double from Ben Davison flipped the game on its head.

Dan Quine levelled before the break but the game was deep into stoppage time when Khris Carr grabbed the winner.
