A late winner from Peter Murray fired Alnwick Town Reserves into the final of the Bluefin Group Bill Gardner Trophy.

His last-gasp effort inspired the St James’ Park side to a 2-1 semi-final win over Blyth Isabella this afternoon.

Hosts Alnwick had taken the lead thanks to Dominic Schievetta, but Dan Wardle levelled for the visitors.

The scores were locked until about five minutes from time when Murray popped up to send Town into the final.

The competition’s other fixture, between Cullercoats and AFC Newbiggin, was postponed.
