Morpeth Sunday League round-up (April 22)

LEWIN CUP, SEMI-FINAL

AMBLE Pier 81 will meet Pegswood Ex in the final of the Lewin Cup after their extra-time win over Bomarsund Social Club in the semi-final on Sunday.

Josh Laverick, David Drysdale and John Bone netted for Bomarsund, but Pier 81 prevailed with goals from Darren Riddell (two), Ross Gair, Sean Taylor and Rikki Hume.

DIVISION TWO

IN the only other game played after the recent downpours, Amble Dock Hotel became the first side to defeat Village Inn, Longframlington, in Division Two and did so in some style as they won 7-1.

Goals were scored by Scott Fulton (two), David Whenray, Jaden Hindhaugh and John Wilkie, while John Angus replied for Village Inn.

MIDWEEK MATCHES

DIVISION ONE

IN midweek, goals from Sean Black (three), Sean Taylor (two) and Ross Gair earned Amble Pier 81 a 6-0 win over Bedlington Barrington Arms, while Ross Donnelly and Ashley McAlpine (two) scored as Pegswood Ex beat Stakeford Half Moon 3-0 in Division One.

DIVISION TWO

ASHINGTON RAOB scored 10 without reply at home to North End Trap, with Mark Miller, Lenny Lansbury, Ant Watson and Sean Gibson all scoring.

Veteran Davey Matthews made yet another appearance for the Buffs at the age of 47.

River Coquet FC picked up another win with a 5-2 success over Morpeth Riverside Lodge.
