Lucy Bronze has been named in England women’s senior squad for the nation’s

World Cup qualifying double-header against Belarus and Turkey this month.

The former Duchess’s Community High School pupil, 21, plays her domestic football for Liverpool Ladies. The Merseysiders top the Women’s Super League.

England have been drawn in Group Six as they attempt to bag a spot at Canada in 2015.

U23 Head Coach Brent Hills will take temporary charge of the side for the opening two qualifying matches, following Hope Powell’s sacking last month for the nation’s disappointing show at July’s European Championships.

England kick off their World Cup qualifying campaign against Belarus on Saturday, September 21, at AFC Bournemouth’s Goldsands Stadium .

They take on Turkey at Fratton Park, Portsmouth FC, five days later.

Both games will be shown live on the BBC.

Wales, Ukraine and Montenegro complete the Group Six line-up.

Bronze’s national nod follows on from her call-up to the Three Lions squad for Euro 2013.

It was her first senior selection and she nearly scored on debut in a friendly against Japan.
