Footballer Lucy Staniforth admits she has felt ‘every emotion possible’ since suffering a horror injury in The FA Women’s Cup final.
The talented England U23 international was stretchered off in the second half of her Bristol Academy side’s 3-0 defeat to Arsenal Ladies last month.
The 20-year-old former Duchess’s Community High School pupil damaged her left knee after landing awkwardly.
With the midfielder facing up to nine months out of the game, having suffered what she describes as a ‘textbook anterior cruciate ligament rupture’, she has created an online blog entitled My time throughout injury #37.
As part of the blog, Staniforth, who had an operation last week as part of the recuperation process, says that suffering the injury has not been easy, but has thanked everyone for their support.
She admits that she wants to forget the moment forever and it took days for the reality of the injury to sink in.
