Liverpool Ladies star Lucy Bronze is targeting a successful defence of the side’s FA Women’s Super League crown, ahead of next week’s season opener.
The 22-year-old was part of the history-making Reds team which won the 2013 title, ending nine years of dominance by Arsenal Ladies in the process.
And as the curtain comes up on the new campaign, the defender is desperate to get her hands on more silverware.
She said: “We have got to match last season. It will be disappointing not to. We want to win something, that is what the best teams do.”
Liverpool begin their title defence next Thursday at 7.45pm against newcomers Manchester City. The game will be screened on BT Sport.
Before this though, Bronze faces a reunion against former club Sunderland Ladies in The FA Women’s Cup on Sunday.
Last weekend, Bronze played the full 90 minutes for England in the 9-0 World Cup qualifying win against Montenegro.
Partnering captain Steph Houghton in the centre of defence, she helped continue England’s fine defensive record, with The Three Lions yet to concede a goal in any of their five Group 6 matches.
