Alnwick’s Lucy Bronze has scored her first international goal as England beat Belarus 3-0 today.
The 22-year-old completed the scoring at the game in Minsk, which leaves the England Women’s side four points away from qualifying for the Women’s World Cup in 2015.
Liverpool Ladies defender Bronze, a former Duchess’s Community High School pupil, drilled the ball home from an angle in added time to put gloss on a comfortable England performance.
Eniola Aluko scored the first goal of the match on the half hour mark. And captain Steph Houghton added to the advantage six minutes later finishing off a free-kick straight from the training ground.
Bronze’s success comes on the back of winning the PFA Women’s Player of the Year Award at the end of April.
With just three more qualifiers to go the Three Lions have won all seven of those already played - without conceding a goal.
England are next in action on Thursday, June 19, when they take on Ukraine in Lviv.
