NFA Sunday Cup

Unfortunately for the Morpeth Sunday League, they no longer have any further teams competing in the NFA Sunday Cup as Amble Tavern and The Wharton Arms both crashed out of the competition at the weekend.

Amble were edged out 3-2 by Wallsend Rising Sun with Brad McClelland on target twice for The Tavern.

In their game, The Wharton drew 2-2 with Wylam FC after extra time; Joe Moscrop got both of The Wharton goals. The Wharton lost the resulting penalty shoot-out 5-3.

Division One

Bedlington Barrington picked up a good 5-1 away win against Morpeth Shambles with Dylan Williamson netting a clinical hat-trick.

Youngster Chris Coe finished well when put through against the goalkeeper and the final goal of the contest was a real cracker as Barrington player Calum Donohoe curled in a great free-kick from the edge of the area with the ball finding the net via the inside of the left post.

Stobswood overcame HMP Northumberland 3-2 thanks to a goal each from Mark Sinclair, Robert Baker & Stephen Gibbard.

Morpeth Wansbeck FC picked up a point as they drew 1-1 with Alnmouth Argyle,

The Wansbeck had been trailing, but they levelled things up with a long-range screamer from Blaine Evans,

Andrew Clouston also saved a penalty for Wansbeck to keep them in the game

Finally this week, Amble Blue Bell recorded a 4-1 victory at home to Bedlington FC.
