FC Amble Juniors U16 1 Ryton Juniors U16 1
U16 Division Two
Both teams started this game playing some good football.
Amble’s first chance came in the opening 10 minutes and started with Brad Little, then Josh Briggs linking well to bring Callum Fenwick into play. He laid the ball off for Ronan Straughan to whip in a good cross for Ali Batey. His touch inside the penalty area took him towards the advancing keeper. Batey rounded him but his left-foot shot was saved, with the keeper recovering well.
Tristan Oliver played a good ball to Briggs, who set up Batey, his shot going wide. Fenwick also had his shot saved. It rebounded out for Brad Little to test the keeper. James Byrne made a surging run forward going past three players with an effort on goal clearing the bar. Jason Imeson’s long-distance shot was curling on target into the top corner but the keeper got his hands to the ball.
Ryton then broke with a long-range effort going wide of the Amble goal. Aldworth pulled off another save to deny Ryton, before a quick break from Amble’s Briggs was saved.
Amble took the lead midway through the second half, with Batey prodding the ball home from close range (1-0).
Ryton had a goal disallowed for offside 10 minutes later.
Going into the last five minutes, Ryton equalled the score (1-1). From the kick-off, Batey carried the ball forward into the Ryton penalty area. He played a lovely one-two with Imeson and tucked the ball away, only to be harshly ruled offside.
