High five as Amble stay league leaders

Heddon...1 Amble Utd...5

Pin Point Recruitment Northern Alliance, Division One

AMBLE were on their travels again last weekend and were back to Heddon to play them in a Division One match.

The home side got the game underway and both teams were playing some good football.

Amble nearly took the lead in the 20th minute when a good effort by Brent Aisbitt went just wide of the post.

However, Amble did take the lead in the 33rd minute when after a good cross from the left by Brent Aisbitt, Ross Gair was at the far post to head home.

Just three minutes had passed when Amble went two up, when after a good move up the right by Darren Riddell who crossed over only for the home centre-half Craig Daglish to hit his clearance straight into the path of Sean Taylor, who fired the ball home.

The home side got a goal back in the 40th minute when John Pearson fired home a free-kick.

Andrew Patterson got his hand to it but could not stop the ball going into the net, and the score at half-time was 2-1 to Amble.

After the interval Amble scored again in the 54th minute when Sean Taylor fired in a free-kick which was deflected home giving the home keeper Ross Thomas no chance.

Amble went four up in the 70th minute when Sean Taylor beat the offside trap to fire the ball home for his hat-trick.

In the 80th minute Amble made it five when this time Darren Riddell beat the offside trap and lobed the ball over the home keeper to make the final score 5-1 for Amble and another good all-round team performance to keep them top of the league.
