FC Amble Juniors 0 Blyth Spartans Greens 7

Northumberland Mini Soccer U10

Amble attacked Blyth from the kick off in the Sunday, February 27 clash against Blyth Spartans Greens with Brandon McCann playing the ball to Joseph Flanighan who hit a first time ball that just scuffed the post.

McCann had Amble’s next chance with the keeper saving at his feet.

Flanighan played in a good ball for David Purvis to head just over the bar.

Blyth were then awarded a penalty for handball, and scored to make it 1-0.

At the other end, Mathew Thompson’s corner was played short to Brandon McCann who laid the ball off to Ross Ramsay who played in David Purvis but his shot was deflected over for a corner.

From the resulting corner, Brandon McCann fired just over the bar. Niall Black pulled off a good save early in the second quarter to keep the score 0-1.

With some good defending from Robert Straughan, Benjamin Southward and Zack Davison, Blyth had limited attacking options early in the second period.

Blyth then scored two quick goals late on, both from heavy deflections to put them 3-0 up.

Into the third quarter David Purvis had another good chance being set up by Brandon McCann, with the keeper saving again by getting a strong left hand to the ball.

Brandon McCann, David Purvis and Mathew Thompson all combined well playing their way into the Blyth penalty area, being stopped by their last defender. Mathew Thompson whipped in another corner for David Purvis to flick the ball onto Brandon McCann who gave the ball back to Purvis who just fired wide.

Blyth went on and scored four more goals to collect all three points on the day.
