U16 Divisional Cup Final

In their second Divisional Cup final in a row, Amble took on first-division side Cramlington Juniors.

Cramlington had the first chance of the game when an unmarked striker shot wide at the back post, before Ali Batey also put the ball the wrong side of the post.

On 11 minutes, Cramlington were awarded a corner. The ball was drilled into the six-yard box and their striker hit a strong first-time shot, to put them 1-0 up.

In Amble’s next attack, the ball clearly struck a defender’s hand when being played in, but the referee and linesman gave nothing to the dismay of the Amble players, coaches and supporters.

In the second half, Cramlington got another corner that was whipped in again and Jake Aldworth, who was now playing in goal for Amble, pulled off a superb save, but the ball struck an Amble player before heading in for 2-0 to Cramlington.

Ali Batey then took a corner with Imeson getting his head to the ball first, but a superb header went just wide.

With Amble on the attack again and the Cramlington keeper off his line, Shane Wright took his shot early but his looping effort was just over the bar.

Chasing the game Amble pushed further forward but with time running out this was not to be Amble’s night. However, the side was pleased on another cup final appearance, and a big thank-you to all the parents for helping them out as always.
