Alnwick Town 4 Billingham Town 3
Alnwick put the brakes on a hat-trick of defeats in their Northern League Division Two campaign with victory over Billingham this afternoon.
The black ’n’ whites were back on home ground to take on Billingham, who are struggling towards the foot of the table and have to yet to win this season.
Alnwick were first on the scoresheet after 24 minutes when Keith Douglas tapped in after persistence from Bryan Murray.
Just eight minutes later, it was 2-0 to the home side when Brad McClelland beat the keeper at the second attempt.

A few minutes later, Billingham’s number 10 got the ball in the net to make it 2-1.
The goals were now coming thick and fast.

Five minutes later, Billingham made it 3-2.
But Alnwick had more in the tank.
Robertson went off for Stephen Hogg, who bundled the ball home in his first touch of the game. 4-2 to Alnwick.
Jon Colley came on in place of Darren Riddell.
With just over 10 minutes to play, Billingham got their third to make the full-time score 4-3.
Alnwick now have two more home games to get more points on the board.
On Tuesday, they welcome Hebburn Town, kick-off 7.30pm, and next Saturday, Seaham Red Star, kick-off 3pm.
