A north Northumberland football club is is beginning to get back on its feet after folding at the end of last season.

In 2012-13, Belford FC played in Division One of the Sportsworld North Northumberand League, but had to call it a day at the end of the season.

“We have some 12 people training now, which is pretty good considering we’re not in any league at the moment,” said Ross Thompson, who, along with fellow organiser Walter Dunn, is actively rebuilding the team.

“Our aim is to get back into the North Northumberland League for next season.”

“We are being sponsored by Ramages Windows and the Salmon Inn in the village and are attracting younger players, plus players from last season are coming back,” added Walter.

“We’ll be having fund-raising events and raffles etc. to help buy equipment, but we also need a manager for next season.

“We are getting a lot of support from people in the village for which we are very grateful.”

The club trains on Wednesday evenings at 6.30pm at their Meadow Park ground and further information can be found on their Facebook group or the village website – www.belford-northumberland.co.uk
