Dramatic comeback for Town teens

Heaton Hawks U13 3 Alnwick Town U13 3

U13 League Two

Alnwick travelled to Newcastle with only nine players for this match, away to top-of-the-table Heaton so the signs weren’t good. What followed was an unforgettable match.

The score was still 0-0 after 20 minutes, but then Heaton made the extra players count to score two well-worked goals. The lads were still playing some good stuff, but went into the break 3-0 down following another strike from the home centre-forward.

In the second half, they played what was their best football of the season. Symons found Hogg with a quick throw and the big man turned his marker and hit an excellent looping shot over the keeper.

Alnwick got their second when Muter tricked his way to the edge of the box and hit a great shot into the top corner.

Time was fast running out when Symons played a good one-two with Robinson who went past his marker and hit a brilliant left-foot equaliser with the last kick of the game.

Alnwick man-of-the-match: Tom Robinson. Alnwick: K Moffat, B Crombie, M Clark, H Milham, R Hogg, W Symons, T Robinson, C Muter, A Murton.
