Alnwick Town suffered their second defeat in a week at the hands of Northallerton when they went down 5-2 at St James’ on Saturday.

Phil Bright put Alnwick ahead with the best goal of the game. A long diagonal ball by Tony Brown was brought down by Bright with his first touch, he attacked down the wing and knocked the ball past the keeper and into the bottom corner.

This was his first goal for the club, but Northallerton equalised in the 26th minute through Aaron Ramsbottom.

Alnwick regained the lead in the 34th minute. A Lewis Coyle corner fell to Andrew Keenan who bundled the ball in from the edge of the six yard box, this was also his first goal for the club..

The home side led 2-1 at half-time, but in the second half the visitors stepped up the pace and four goals without reply saw them leave with all three match points.

The second half was only a minute old when Nicky Martin equalised for Northallerton.

Further goals by Ramsbottom, Hudson and Martin gave the Yorkshire side athe victory.

Overall, this was a disappointing defeat on Tom Macpherson’s 250th appearance for the club.
