Amble got off to a bad start with the home team breaking down the left wing within two minutes, playing the ball across the penalty area, then slotting home at the back post.
A minute later Josh Briggs went close with a left-foot shot which went just past the upright.
On six minutes Amble levelled the scores with James Oliver playing the ball in for Josh Briggs, who cut in past his defender and fired home to level the scores.
James Oliver then went close himself with a shot on target, with the keeper saving well.
After some fantastic football from the Amble lads, Ali Batey finished off in style, at full stretch, his left-foot shot lobbed the keeper, with the ball going into the roof of the net for a 1-2 lead.
Going into the closing stages of the first half Heaton attacked again with a shot on target, James Byrne cleared the ball off the line to keep the slender lead.
A James Oliver corner early in the second half was met with a volley from Jordan King going just wide.
Nathan Potts again and again made great interceptions to stop Heaton, while Flanighan, Straughan and Byrne all had a good game.
Heaton had numerous corners that were whipped right into the danger area with Jason Imeson getting a brave header on the ball, then Potts cleared the ball to safety.
With 10 minutes to play, Heaton broke again and were awarded a free-kick. The ball was floated in and tucked away to equal the scores and send the game into extra-time.
Heaton scored early for a 3-2 lead.
Jordan King had a shot on target with the keeper saving, while Ronan Straughan went close with his effort going wide.
With Amble pushing more players forward, Callum Fenwick whipped in a corner with Jason Imeson striking wide.
Heaton caught Amble out again with a fourth and a fifth to send the home team into the quarter-finals.
