Confidence breeds confidence for win number 16

Rothbury Rovers 0 Berwick 2

Glendale Junior League

Berwick began the match with the confidence that comes with having enjoyed 15 straight victories and were quick to apply pressure on the Rothbury defence.

Encouraged by a Rothbury side reluctant to pressure the ball, the Berwick opening goal quickly arrived. A swift one-two opened up the Rothbury defence and a well-struck cross-shot found the bottom left corner.

A second goal swiftly followed. Attempting to play the ball out at the back, Rothbury played the ball across their penalty area. As Berwick players converged on the ball, a prodded shot amid a defensive melee squirmed over the line and into the Rothbury goal.

After half-time, two Gareth Rickaby corners crashed off the frame of the goal and only a brilliant saving tackle on Charlie Hall-Scope saved a certain Rothbury goal.
