Colts march straight to the top of the league

Glendale League round up

Lowick Colts moved to the top of the U12 Glendale League table on Saturday thanks to a decisive 6-1 victory over Seahouses.

Lowick’s victory came courtesy of hat-tricks from Christian Briggs and Daniel Lowe.

These two players are at the top of the U12 goal-scoring table and are part of a team who are really challenging current title holders Tweedmouth Amateurs for this season’s title.

Tweedmouth beat Lowick Ravens 5-0 thanks to goals from Rhys Dixon, Thomas Malcolm, Will Short and Bryan Tait. Tweedmouth meet Lowick Colts on Saturday in a match that will go a long way to determine this year’s U12 crown.

Another team who will fancy their chances of securing the league title are Eyemouth.

Yet their unbeaten record is slightly blemished by the fact that they have won only one of the four games in which they have avoided defeat. Their third draw of the season was a 0-0 stalemate against Longhorsley.

Wooler U12s slipped from the top of the table after a narrow 1-2 defeat against Berwick Juniors. Jay Baverstock and Ryan Middleton scored for Berwick.

Two-one was also the scoreline as Alnwick Town beat Rothbury. Substitute Reece Gaines notched the vital strike for Alnwick, after a glorious strike from Alnwick striker James Chrisp that opened the scoring.

Alnwick Pythons must be considered as genuine title contenders in the U10 title race. On Saturday, they beat Lowick Harriers 7-0 (report, right).

However, Lowick Kestrels and Felton Falcons maintained their 100 per cent winning starts to the season through respective 6-2 and 5-0 victories. Vinnie Clazie, Lewis Foxton, Larsson Lambert, Jackson Robertson, Lee Matthews and Gordon Smith scored the six goals for the Kestrels and Emrie Yasar, Ben Riley, Olly Gibson and Luke Brown scored the goals for the Falcons in their victory.

Rothbury Rangers slightly slipped off the title race pace thanks to that rarest of rare beasts at U10 level, a scoreless draw with Wooler.

Wooler are a point in front of Shilbottle Colliers.

The Colliers beat Lowick Ospreys 4-3. Goals from Kai Jardine, Andrew Mace and Oliver Mace were just not enough for the Lowick team to secure a positive result.

Elsewhere in the U10s, Connor Johnston and Noah Watson both scored hat-tricks in a 6-2 Berwick Juniors victory over Longhorsley and Rothbury Rovers secured their first victory of the season, beating Alnwick Adders 5-0.

The U14 league saw Berwick Juniors move into a four-point lead over their nearest rivals thanks to a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Lowick Falcons.

Ryan Ruddick’s two-goal salvo for Berwick was answered by Lowick goals from Jessie Holloway and Niall Jones.

Wooler U14s beat Seahouses 3-2, with goals from Brandon Crombie and Kieran Jones.
