Cobras entertained Longhoughton on Sunday knowing they had to win to have any chance of winning the league.

Cobras started brightly when Reece Hamilton beat two players down the line, then put a pin-point cross to Marco Mckenley, who slid the ball into the net (1-0).

Alnwick Town Cobras didn’t take their feet off the gas and were rewarded with a second. Liam Nesbitt powered a header into the box for Tyler Henderson to break through and pass the ball past the advancing keeper and into the net (2-0).

Cobras got their third when a mix-up at the back allowed Mckenley to burst through two defenders and round the keeper to calmly slot the ball into the net (3-0).

The second half was a midfield battle with both teams putting in some strong tackles.

Cobras got their fourth when they were awarded a free-kick 25 yards out, Cameron Atwell stepped up and placed a low shot into the bottom corner (4-0).

Loughoughton grabbed a goal back, after some sloppy defending (4-1).

Both teams deserve a lot of credit for a great game of football.
