BAY PLASTICS GEORGE DOBBINS LEAGUE CUP
The tie of the round between Blyth Town and Carlisle City was decided on penalties after a thrilling 3-3 draw, this afternoon. Johnny Mann plundered a treble for the hosts as they twice came from behind with Mark Graham (two) and Martin Shepherd slotting home for the Cumbrians. Town keeper Scott Earl made the decisive stop from City’s final kick as the shoot-out ended 5-4.
Brent Aisbitt slammed in five times as AFC Newbiggin demolished Willington Quay Saints. Kev Halliday grabbed a brace and Richie Morris, Michael Angus and Macauley Burt crashed home the others.
Zak Atkinson was also among the goals for Rutherford with four in their victory over Seaton Delaval. Darren Turnbull, Andy Davidson, Matteo Pailo and Steve Wilson got the others with Karl Nealings Lazzari (two), Tom Phillips and Mason Stepehnson hitting the net at the other end.
Joe Moscrop gave Ashington Colliers an early lead at holders Shankhouse who hit back in the second half with an own-goal and strikes from John Ludlow and Lee Gustard.
Wallington’s Chris Moffit hit the only goal at Newcastle Chemfica.
Seaton Burn’s Callum McAllister, Maxwell Houghton and Chris Carr (pen) were on target in their win over Alnwick Town Reserves, who scored courtesy of an own-goal.
Dylan Blake struck twice as Whitley Bay A went through at Hebburn Reyrolle. Tom Potter got the other, with John Murray replying.
Shilbottle CW advanced 4-0 at Forest Hall and Sam Grieveson (two), Steve Hurd, John Robson (pen) and David Kane were Walker Central’s marksmen at Cullercoats.
A Neil Thornley shot and late Rikki-Lee James double put Northbank into the hat as they won at Cramlington Town.
Jordi Miller and Dan Gray fired in for Bedlington Terriers Reserves against Gateshead Leam Rangers, who had James Fenwick chalk one up.
Daniel Hindmarsh hit two for Wallsend Boys Club as they saw off Newcastle Benfield Reserves. Alex Nesbit and Michael Starkie got the others, Michael Baxter netting twice at the other end.
Birtley Saint Joseph’s surprised North Shields Athletic with first half goals from Lee Cuthbertson (two), Luke Steele and James Bowman, replies from James Ardley, Scott Jasper and Luke Mallow not enough to prevent an upset.
Blyth Isabella were unlucky to go out in extra-time against Red House Farm. Nathan Sopp hit three for the visitors, Martin Soulsby, two, and Steven Brown the other as fitness and experience told in the end. Andy Howes and Michael Meins were Isabella’s hit-men.
Whickham SC beat Newcastle University 3-2 last night, with John Dewhirst grabbing a hat-trick and Tom Espin replying twice for the Students.
NIKE DIVISION ONE
Joe Betts took just 30 seconds to shoot leaders Percy Main ahead as they hit New Fordley for six. Dave Surrey added a brace and Adam Green, Steve Hart and Dan Sneap the others.
Hexham won a vital clash at Wooler at the other end of the table thanks to goals from Sean McAllindon, Liam Heenan, Thomas North and David Hall, with Luke Strangeways grabbing both the replies.
Ponteland United pulled off a good 4-2 success at Bohemians.
BAY PLASTICS DIVISION TWO
Shaun Young hit a hat-trick for Grainger Park as they went top of the table. Steve Matthews, Andy Gowing and Chrissy Robinson got the others with Dan Igo and David Jeffers replying for visitors Swalwell.
West Allotment Celtic A led at Cramlington United through two Ben Jackson strikes but United drew level with goals from Tony Rees and Martin Kelly.
Gary Archbold struck twice for Whitburn, one coming from the penalty spot, as they beat Lindisfarne CP. Ross MacAuley added the other.
Chris Marshall, Chris Chan, Scott Millbank, John Ransome and Dean Blacklock did the damage for High Howdon as they took three points at Wideopen.
