Celtic make it a tough night for Black ’n’ Whites

WEST ALLOTMENT CELTIC 5 ALNWICK TOWN 3

NORTHERN LEAGUE, DIVISION TWO

Alnwick Town continued their losing streak when they were put to the sword by West Allotment Celtic away at Whitley Park tonight (Friday), in an eight-goal thriller.

Allotment, who were second in the league at the start of tonight’s clash, were in command from the start and it wasn’t long before the first goal was smashed home from close range.

Town were punished again when they gave the ball away, letting the home side sneak it past the keeper.

Then it was the Northumbrians’ turn when Tom MacPherson headed home to make it 2-1

Celtic notched another three before half-time to make it 5-1 at the break.

In the second half, Town came out fighting with a goal from Chris Kidd and a volley from Tom Vickers giving them hope of getting something from the game.

But it was not to be and it finished 5-3, with Celtic taking all three points.

Alnwick’s next match sees them take on Thornaby at home on Saturday, January 18.
