Red Row Brick Club have won a commemorative football competition for the third time in four years.

The Morpeth Sunday League side retained the Hacka and Shanka Memorial Trophy, which is played in honour of pals Paul Mavin and Liam Shanks, both from Hadston, who died in 2009.

Fittingly, Liam’s brother, Adam, netted for the victors as they beat North End Trap Broomhill 2-0 in Sunday’s final. He was the tournament’s top-scorer too.

Kev Bell also found the net during the game.

The annual competition was launched in 2009 to mark 18-year-old Paul’s and 19-year-old Liam’s love for the game and Sunday’s final, played in front of a good crowd, featured family members of both lads.

Thanks to the tournament officials, Stobswood Welfare for hosting the final, East Chevington Parish Council and match sponsor Michael Tilley.
