Bamburgh and Red Row share the spoils

North Northumberland Football League

Due to wet and wintry weather the league programme was badly hit on the last Saturday of the 2013 season.

One game that did go ahead was at Bamburgh and the home team missed out on the chance to close the gap at the top as they had to be content with a share of the points against Red Row Welfare.

A penalty from Gareth McCann, a Will Farmer free-kick and a James Dixon goal were the home team scorers with Paul and Darren Smith plus a Jordan Giles effort making up the Red Row tally.

In a local derby up at Berwick, it was Springhill who were the happier at the final whistle as David Jardine, Paul Johnson and Michael Antcliffe all scored with Simon Hargreaves replying for Highfields.

In Division Two, Wansbeck AFC notched up another victory to keep them at the head of the table, with Brent Aisbett, Steven Frater and Chris Hogg all netting in a win over Amble St Cuthbert, whose two goals came from Lima Ramsay and Connor Smith.

In a fast and furious local derby, Embleton WR saw off the challenge of local rivals Craster Rovers with a 30-yard screamer from Brett Rogerson, Jason Imeson and Spencer Eardley. Among the Embleton WR scorers with Michael Brown and Shaun Toal the Craster marksmen.

This was the last round of fixtures until 2014 and the NNFL wishes everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy and prosperous 2014.
