AMBLE took advantage of second-placed Wallsend’s game falling victim to the freezing weather by extending their lead at the top of the table to 10 points.

They welcomed Gosforth Bohemians to the Running Track pitch for this Division One league match.

The visitors got the match underway and started the brightest and they were putting the Amble defence under all sorts of pressure in the first 15 minutes of the game.

However, Amble started to come into the game a bit more and were creating some good chances.

The score remained 0-0 at half-time.

After the interval, Amble played some very good football and were creating some decent opportunities to score, Josh Hay and Adam Shanks going close.

Amble continued to keep up the pressure on the visitors’ defence and once gain went very close to taking the lead through Lee Harker and Ross Gair.

The game was heading for a 0-0 draw until Richard Brown scored in the 86th minute with an excellent shot from 25 yards which found the bottom corner of the net, giving the visitors’ keeper Stephen Wilkinson no chance.

The final score was 1-0 to Amble in a game in which they had to work very hard.
