Amble go nap to stay in third place

Amble Utd...5 Sporting Morpeth...0

Northern Alliance, Division One

AMBLE consolidated their third place in Division One after a comprehensive victory against Sporting Morpeth on Saturday.

The home side started the brightest and took the lead in the 28th minute after Brett Robertson made a good run down the left and crossed for Josh Hay to fire home.

Amble kept up the pressure on the visitors’ defence and went two up in the 33rd minute, when, this time, Sean Taylor provided the telling pass for Hay to slot the ball home for his second and make the score at half-time 2-0 to Amble.

After the interval, Amble continued to play the better football and had some very good chances. They went three up in the 56th minute when Sean Taylor chipped the visitors’ keeper Mark Donnelly, giving him no chance, then in the 58th minute Darren Riddell made a good run up the right and crossed for Hay to blast in for his hat-trick.

In the 58th minute, Stephen Gibbard crossed from the right for Sean Taylor to score his second and make it 5-0 to Amble at the final whistle.

It was another very good all -round team performance
