Amble consolidate position in league

Amble Utd...4 Peterlee Town...1

Pin Point Recruitment Northern Alliance, Division One

AMBLE welcomed Peterlee to the Running Track pitch for this league Division One match.

The home side got the match under way and the football flowed from end to end, with both teams creating chances.

The visitors broke the deadlock in the 28th minute when Graham Lacey broke through the Amble defence and lobbed Andrew Patterson in the home goal.

Amble grabbed an equaliser in the 31st minute when some good approach play down the right by Sean Taylor resulted in a cross for Ross Gair to push the ball through for Josh Hay to fire home.

In the 37th minute, Amble took the lead from a long-range shot by Greg Dance, which the visitors’ keeper seemed to hold but then drop into the net, making the score at half-time 2-1 to Amble.

Just after the interval, they scored again when an excellent shot from 20 yards by Sean Taylor found the top right corner of the net, giving the Peterlee keeper Russel Bunkinsop no chance.

After this, Amble played some good, creative football, making chance after chance but could not put them away until the 72nd minute, once again after some good play up the right. The ball was crossed for Josh Hay to slot home for his second.

The visitors did try very hard to get a goal back but found the Amble back-four very hard to break down and the final score was 4-1 after yet another good, all-round team performance to keep them fourth in the league.
