Alnwick Town has scored vital support to replace £3,000-worth of kit which was mistakenly thrown out.

Last month, the St James’ Park club made an appeal for cashafter first and reserve-team strips, as well as tracksuits, were hoyed out by accident.

Following the rallying cry, the black ’n’ whites, whose first team play in Northern League, Division Two, have managed to secure replacement gear.

The club’s main sponsor, Kitson Windows, in Alnwick, stepped in to help with the home strips, while town-based Coast and Castle Estate Agents did the same for the tracksuits.

Sportsworld, in Alnwick, offered discounted prices and the club also received cash from supporters.

Commercial manager Alan Lingwood said: “Fortunately the terrible occurrence has been put right, thanks to people’s generosity.”
